Tiger’s last Masters victory was an unbelievable 14 years ago in 2005 -to go with his other Masters wins in 1997, 2001, and 2002. (And its been 11 years since Tiger won a major championship… the last one being the 2008 US Open Championship that Tiger won at Torrey Pines) It seems that finally his body, head, and game have all been rebuilt/resurrected to the point that he could seriously contend at this years’s Masters Tournament in April. It will be exciting to see what unfolds this year, and the world will be watching to see if Tiger can get off to a good start in Thursday and Friday’s rounds to put himself in a solid contending position for the weekend play…
Posted here is a recent illustration of mine, entitled “14 Years Later” -reflecting on Tiger’s current status of having four Green Jackets (Masters victories). It was drawn digitally in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, with digital color, and with additional background texturing I painted with gouache…
If Tiger could pull off the near unthinkable and win yet another major championship with a victory at the 2019 Masters Tournament (bringing his total to 15 majors, inching closer to Nicklaus’ record of 18) it would be his 5th Masters Green Jacket -and would vault him out of his current tie with the great Arnold Palmer, each with 4 Masters victories. (Jack Nicklaus holds the record of 6 Masters victories.)
